Trails & Waterfalls
Sparkling white cliffs located in the Nantahala National Forest near Highlands, NC. This has been a landmark long the eastern continental divide. It has 750ft tall cliffs which are the highest shear cliffs in the eastern United States. It has been estimated by geologists that the mountain is more than four hundred million years old.
Whiteside Mountain
One of the most unusual and most popular falls in the South by virtue of its easy access along scenic mountain US 64 West, 2.45 miles from Highlands, NC. The falls drop for 120 feet. During cold spells, the spray creates a large mound of ice at its base. If it stays cold long enough, the falls will form one giant column of ice.
Bridal Veil Falls
Located in Transylvania County near the tripoint where North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia meet, Gorges State Park has 26 waterfalls, rugged river gorges, and sheer rock precipices. The park is located in the Blue Ridge Escarpment and spans over 8,000 acres of temperate rainforesty.
